- Veterinary check ups – annual check ups, plus whenever your dog is ill or injured
- Vaccinations – important to protect them against various diseases

- Flea and tick treatment – to protect them against fleas and ticks
Safety
- Microchip – with up to date contact details
- Collar with ID tag – always on them and with your current contact details
- Lead – to walk them safely in a controlled manner
- Bedding – warm, comfy and clean
- Shelter – weatherproof, providing protection from the sun, rain and wind
- Tall, secure fencing – to make sure your dog is safe and won’t escape
- Car harness or a crate – for safety when driving
