Pet theft has been on the rise, skyrocketing, since the covid-19 pandemic. It has been increasing because the demands for pets has also risen as people have been feeling lonely and wanting company during this pandemic. To help pet owners we have created 5 simple ways to prevent dog theft (scroll down for a simple infographic).
1. Make sure your dog is microchipped
It is a requirement by Australian law to have your dog microchipped by 12 weeks of age. It will also make it easier to identify your dog if they are found.
2. Don’t leave your dog in the car or tied up
Don’t be tempted to leave your dog in the car or tied up outside a shop or other public places, because this makes your dog an ideal target for thieves. Instead, leave your dog at home or take someone with you so they can accompany your dog.
