[INFOGRAPHIC] 5 Simple Ways To Prevent Dog Theft

Pet theft has been on the rise, skyrocketing, since the covid-19 pandemic. It has been increasing because the demands for pets has also risen as people have been feeling lonely and wanting company during this pandemic. To help pet owners we have created 5 simple ways to prevent dog theft (scroll down for a simple infographic).

1. Make sure your dog is microchipped

It is a requirement by Australian law to have your dog microchipped by 12 weeks of age. It will also make it easier to identify your dog if they are found.

2. Don’t leave your dog in the car or tied up

Don’t be tempted to leave your dog in the car or tied up outside a shop or other public places, because this makes your dog an ideal target for thieves. Instead, leave your dog at home or take someone with you so they can accompany your dog.

3. Don’t let young children walk them alone

If a child is alone walking your dog, they can become vulnerable targets to dog thieves.

4. Consider installing security cameras

This will help deter thieves from your place and keep your dog safe, particularly recommended for owners with high-value dog breeds.

5. Buy your dog from a trustworthy source

When purchasing a dog, you must do thorough research on the seller. Get referrals from them and make sure they are a reputable source.
